Pacing the Pacific

Roles: Direction | Concept | Cinematography | Edit

Developed with On Running, Pacing the Pacific explores the psyche of ultra-marathoner Karel Sabbe during his record-breaking 2,652-mile PCT attempt. The film transcends the "two marathons a day" metric, capturing the evolution of a dentist who mastered the art of accepting suffering.

The partnership successfully offset production costs while presenting a brutal logistical gauntlet: chasing Karel through remote wilderness. Our crew navigated PCT extremes—from 110-degree deserts to record-shattering snowpacks—while hauling heavy equipment across remote terrain. The result is a raw, emotional chronicle of relentless human dedication meeting the untamed American West.

Kokopelli strong

Roles: Direction | Concept | Cinematography

This film chronicles professional cyclist Hannah Otto’s pursuit of the 137-mile Kokopelli Trail FKT. Highlighting her grit and toughness, the narrative captures her battle against 16,000 feet of elevation gain, sub-freezing temperatures, and frozen gear.

The production team faced its own test: chasing Otto in side-by-sides across Moab’s remote desert to document the effort while providing zero support. The result is a visceral study in resilience, proving that the foundation for success is built in the moments you refuse to quit.

NO place like home

Roles: Direction | Concept | Cinematography

"No Place Like Home" is a strategic proof of concept for international tourism board partnerships. The primary challenge was balancing inspirational narrative with specific regional marketing requirements. Featuring world-class rider Rémy Métailler in Squamish, BC, the film showcases British Columbia as a top-tier mountain biking and adventure destination.

The project follows Métailler’s transition from France to Canada's iconic rock slabs, highlighting a lifestyle defined by multi-sport accessibility and community. This partnership met immediate tourism goals while successfully laying the groundwork for the future of Backcountry's content strategy through athlete-driven travel.

Mind the gap

Roles: Direction | Concept | Cinematography

"Mind The Gap," the fifth episode of Venture Beyond, provides a raw look into Nils Mindnich’s 16-year career as he attempts the iconic Chad’s Gap. The film highlights an athlete pushing industry norms and personal limits.

Production faced extreme hurdles: volatile snowpacks, strict timing due to canyon closures, and grueling hauls with heavy packs. Ultimately, the narrative focuses on the psychological weight of the feature, documenting Mindnich’s calculated decision to walk away for his long-term safety. It serves as a reminder that "venturing beyond" often requires respecting the mountain's limits.
